In Maryland, there is one plan that makes sense. It has low copays, and you generally only see deductibles for hospitalization, surgeries, and complex imaging.
While there are both cheaper and more expensive plans, in our opinion, they don’t make much sense. The cheaper plans don’t save you enough to justify the higher deductibles, and the more expensive plans don’t offer enough to justify the additional cost.
Review the directions below before proceeding.
Step 1: Click this link Quote / Apply
Step 2: On the page that opens, enter your MARYLAND or Northern Virginia zip code in the box and click "View all plans >" on the right.
Step 3: Enter your gender and date of birth (including spouse and children if you're applying for them as well) and click "Next >" at the bottom of the screen.
Step 4: Scroll down to the BlueChoice HMO Gold $1,750 Virtual Connect (at least if you buy our philosophy) and click "Apply >".
Step 5+: From there, you'll set up an online account and follow the directions to the end. Be sure to enter your payment information. Once the plan is issued, set a reminder to ensure the charge goes through each month. If the plan lapses, the company is not lenient—so don’t let that happen.
If you're applying during the year, we’ll need valid proof that you're eligible for a Special Enrollment Period. You'll upload it in the application, but also send us a copy. The email address at the top of this page is where to send it. After your plan issues, future billing, claims, etc. will all be handled through the carrier’s customer service directly. We're here to answer questions, but we don’t have access to your account, so we’ll point you in the right direction so you're not stuck. BE SURE TO APPLY before the 15th of the month to start coverage the first of the next month.
Also note: if you lost employer coverage during the year, that will be Question #5 in the Special Enrollment section of the application: “In the next 60 days or within the last 60 days, will you or have you or your dependent(s) lost minimum essential coverage….” After submitting the application, click “My Account” (not always easy to see), then look for the button to submit required information and upload your document. Make sure your file name has no spaces or numbers—for example, just call it file.pdf or letter.pdf for a smooth upload.
Click the link below to get started. Once on the page, select “Individual Dental Insurance” on the left side under Our Products. Then just enter your zip code and demographics to view available plans and apply.
